# directory.lgbt A free, UK-wide directory of LGBTQIA+ community services — support groups, healthcare, legal advice, youth services, and more — searchable by location and service type. Every listing carries field-level source provenance (official register, organisation-provided, community-suggested, or unverified) so visitors can judge how much to trust what they're reading. ## Categories - https://directory.lgbt/support-group - https://directory.lgbt/healthcare - https://directory.lgbt/mental-health - https://directory.lgbt/sexual-health - https://directory.lgbt/youth-service - https://directory.lgbt/social-group - https://directory.lgbt/bar-nightlife - https://directory.lgbt/community-centre - https://directory.lgbt/legal-service - https://directory.lgbt/housing - https://directory.lgbt/helpline - https://directory.lgbt/faith-group - https://directory.lgbt/sports-fitness - https://directory.lgbt/arts-culture - https://directory.lgbt/advocacy-campaigning - https://directory.lgbt/education - https://directory.lgbt/pride ## Sitemap https://directory.lgbt/sitemap_index.xml ## Public APIs and discovery Both public JSON APIs are keyless and read-only; no account or API key is required. - API catalog: https://directory.lgbt/.well-known/api-catalog - Public API root: https://directory.lgbt/api/v1 - Public API OpenAPI specification: https://directory.lgbt/api/v1/openapi.json - Public API documentation: https://directory.lgbt/api/v1/docs - Open Referral UK / HSDS feed root: https://directory.lgbt/oruk/v3 - Open Referral UK / HSDS OpenAPI specification: https://directory.lgbt/oruk/v3/openapi.json - Usage terms: https://directory.lgbt/api-usage-terms The public API exposes listings, organisations and categories. Its Postgres full-text/trigram search does not include the website search's synonym expansion or typo tolerance: the same query can return different results. The ORUK feed is a separate, documented HSDS subset; consult its specification for the supported resources and fields. ## Listing detail Markdown Markdown is available for GET and HEAD requests to canonical listing detail URLs only: /listings/{slug}. Use the canonical URL from the listing, preserving its case. For example, with LISTING_URL set to that canonical listing detail URL: curl -H 'Accept: text/markdown' "$LISTING_URL" An explicit positive text/markdown preference is required. HTML is the default, and HTML wins ties with Markdown. Media quality values and exclusions are respected; a wildcard alone never opts into Markdown. Unsupported media preferences return 406 only after successful resource resolution. Canonical redirects, missing or withheld listings, and other errors retain their normal status. HEAD uses the same representation selection as GET and returns no body. Markdown uses the same public display rules as the listing page: publication and scope gates, masked locations, withheld contacts, source caveats and adult restrictions still apply. Adult listing pages require valid signed-cookie consent from the website's adult-content confirmation flow. Query parameters such as include_adult=true do not authorize listing-page access, even though /api/v1 has its own documented include_adult query option. The ORUK feed excludes adult listings. Listing HTML and Markdown responses remain private, no-store and vary by Accept. Markdown is not offered for listing group subpages, search, category pages or JSON API routes. ## Attribution, limitations and crawler preferences When displaying API data publicly, credit directory.lgbt and link back to the source listing where practical. Preserve field-level source attribution and verification caveats. Information may be incomplete or out of date; verify safety-critical details directly with the organisation. Follow the usage terms, including restrictions on harmful profiling, harassment, discriminatory use and circumventing rate limits. The Content Signals in robots.txt express preferences allowing search, AI input and AI training. They do not enforce access, guarantee crawler compliance or replace the usage terms.
