Get to know this service
The British HIV Association (BHIVA) is the leading UK professional association for people working in HIV care. Founded in 1995, it acts as a national advisory body on all aspects of HIV care.
BHIVA provides a national platform for HIV care issues, with representatives contributing to international, national and local committees. It hosts conferences and courses, including an Autumn Conference and a General Medicine Course for HIV/GU physicians.
Membership offers benefits such as discounted conference registration, free subscription to the journal HIV Medicine, and CPD certificates for completed e-learning modules.
BHIVA has also spoken publicly on issues affecting transgender and non-binary people. Alongside BASHH, it raised concerns about NHS England guidance on hospital accommodation, warning of risks of stigma and barriers to healthcare for trans and non-binary people. The two organisations also called for a ban on conversion therapy to include protection for trans people, noting that trans people face a higher risk of acquiring HIV.
About
BHIVA is the leading UK association representing professionals in HIV care, providing guidelines, events and membership support since 1995.
