Get to know this service
Journey LGBT+ Asylum Group is a support group for LGBTQIA+ asylum seekers and refugees in the West Midlands, based in Birmingham. It offers group meetings, social activities, one-to-one support, advocacy and awareness raising about the issues members face.
The group runs a buddy scheme, pairing established members as peer supporters for newer members. It also signposts and refers members to legal and asylum advice, mental wellbeing services, counselling or therapy, and sports, arts and social activities.
It works with other organisations, which sometimes attend meetings to share information or run activity workshops, and has partnerships providing practical help such as bicycles or dance classes. The group is organised entirely by volunteers and is a registered charitable incorporated organisation.
