Leicester Pride Co. UK aims to promote understanding and acceptance of the Gay community in its area, also encompassing the Heterosexual community to foster good relations.
The charity organises Leicester Pride, an annual LGBTQIA+ festival held in Leicester each September, which is free to attend and celebrates equality and diversity.
The festival includes a parade through the city centre starting at The Curve Theatre, leading to the festival site at Abbey Park. It features live music, cabaret, a DJ tent, food and drink, market stalls and fairground rides, and is a family event suitable for all ages.
The event is attended by more than 10,000 people each year, with more than 2,000 taking part in the parade. It has been run by the current team since 2009, growing from a small city event into a full-scale festival at Abbey Park.
