Generate is a small grassroots charity based in York, supporting transgender, non-binary, gender-diverse and gender-questioning adults across North Yorkshire. It also extends support to their family members and loved ones. Founded in 2011 as a volunteer-led initiative, it is now a registered charity.
Generate offers peer support groups, both online and in-person, giving people space for shared understanding and connection. It provides one-to-one mentoring and one-to-one sessions with a qualified counsellor for therapeutic support.
The charity runs a varied programme of activities and events, including trans and non-binary swimming sessions, voice coaching, styles workshops and creative wellness sessions. It also offers advocacy to help people navigate healthcare, education and workplaces, and works with individuals and organisations to encourage trans inclusivity.
