Get to know this service
Holocaust Memorial Day Trust is the charity established and funded by the UK Government to promote and support Holocaust Memorial Day in the UK. The day falls on 27 January each year.
Holocaust Memorial Day commemorates the six million Jewish men, women and children murdered during the Holocaust by the Nazis and their collaborators between 1941 and 1945. It also remembers victims of Nazi persecution of other groups, including Roma and Sinti people, disabled people, gay people and political opponents.
The day also supports learning and remembrance of later genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur. The Trust's charitable objects include advancing public education on the Holocaust and these genocides, and promoting equality, diversity and human rights.
The Trust works to eliminate discrimination on grounds including race, disability, sexual orientation, gender and religion, by raising public awareness of racism and prejudice. Each year it oversees a UK Commemorative Ceremony and thousands of local activities around 27 January.
