Get to know this service

Rainbow Chorus is a community choir for LGBTQIA+ people, based in Brighton and Hove since 1997. It aims to advance public appreciation of choral singing and promote social inclusion for people excluded due to their sexual orientation or gender identity.

The choir offers a supportive environment where members can sing, build confidence and develop their skills. It performs publicly, including at events such as World Aids Day and TransPride, and supports other charities by singing to help them raise funds.

Rainbow Chorus rehearses weekly with occasional weekend sessions, and holds New Members Nights twice a year with no audition required. It also runs monthly RC+ sessions for those wanting a more informal way to sing.

The choir has worked to include Sign Language Users, providing BSL interpreters at its main concerts and developing a repertoire using Signed Supported English. It is a member of Legato, the umbrella organisation for lesbian and gay choirs in Europe.
