Get to know this service
Space Youth Project supports young people in Dorset who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or are questioning their sexuality or gender identity. It has been running since 2001, starting with one group in Bournemouth.
The project now runs seven regular, free youth groups across Dorset, open to any LGBTQIA+ young person under 25. It also offers one-to-one support and family support.
Further services include workshops for schools, colleges or youth groups, and professional training. The project also runs a free drop-in group for anyone who identifies as trans, non-binary or gender questioning.
Space Youth Project aims to help young people build positive self-esteem and feel part of a community. It works to reduce homophobia, biphobia and transphobia, and to address issues caused or made worse by prejudice.
