Porty Pride is an annual pride event run by the LGBTQIA+ community of Portobello, Edinburgh. It aims to celebrate diversity, build visibility and strengthen community throughout the year.
The group sees community-building as a way to tackle social injustices. During the pandemic it marked Pride Month by flying Progress flags along Portobello High Street.
Porty Pride is run by volunteers, including an organising committee, and it also runs a Community Quilt project to document its history. It was Scotland's first Fossil Free Pride.
Funds raised cover costs such as venue and equipment hire, paying LGBTQIA+ performers, speakers and activists, and BSL interpreters. Any profit is reinvested into future events.
