Get to know this service

SQIFF (Scottish Queer International Film Festival) is a Scottish charity that showcases queer cinema and supports creative voices from the LGBTQIA+ community in Scotland and beyond. It has held an annual festival in Glasgow since 2015, alongside year-round events in various locations.

The festival aims to screen films that audiences might not otherwise see, and to create spaces for conversation on LGBTQIA+ topics and issues. SQIFF says it wants to challenge inequalities and barriers to accessing the arts.

SQIFF also runs initiatives to support marginalised groups within the LGBTQIA+ community, including a networking system for queer filmmakers and filmmaking workshops for people new to the medium. It describes itself as a pioneer in accessibility within the UK film exhibition sector, using methods such as large-print text, live captioning, BSL-English interpretation and audio description.
